Június 8.-án kedden a Zimbabwe Europe Network (www.zimbabweeurope.org) és az Afrikai-Magyar Egyesület szervezésében zimbabwei emberi jogi aktivisták és civil kollégák érkeznek Budapestre egy több állomásos európai körút részeként. Ez alkalomból szervezzük meg a következő szemináriumot és kerekasztal-beszélgetést.

Program:

13:00- 13:10 Köszöntés, nyitó gondolatok (az AHU-ZEN kapcsolatáról, a téma aktualitásáról)

13:10- 14:15 A delegáció tagjainak és munkásságának bemutatása. Előadás a zimbabwei civil szektorról valamint ehhez kapcsolódóan a politikai helyzetről. Állásfoglalások ismertetése, kulcs üzenetek átadása.

14:15-14:30 Kávészünet

14:30-15:45 Tapasztalatcsere és kérdésfeltevési lehetőség. (A zimbabwei küldöttség Magyarország politikai átmeneti tapasztalatai valamint az EU elnökségre tervezett tevékenységei iránt érdeklődik.)

Zimbabwe’s Inclusive Government, born out of the Global Political Agreement between the 3 main political parties in Zimbabwe, turned 1 year on February 11 2010. The past year has witnessed some changes particularly on the economic landscape of Zimbabwe. However, we note with concern that there has not been much progress in realising most of the key points that are stated in the Global Political Agreement; for instance lack of adherence to some aspects of the following articles:

·         Article iii on economic development

·         Article xxi on elections

·         Articles vii and xvi on Humanitarian and Food assistance

·         Article vii on National healing, Cohesion and National Unity

·         Articles xii and xix on Rights and Freedoms (media)

·         Article XI on rule of law, respect for the constitution and other laws

Even with minimal improvement and serious lack of adherence to the GPA, there are indications and insinuations from the government that the country might have a general election in 2011.

 As European donors on Zimbabwe are meeting in Oslo on the 1^st of June to deliberate on a way forward on Zimbabwe we wait eagerly to know where the outcome of this conference will place Zimbabwean Civil Society? Does the outcome speak positively to continued or enhanced support of Civil Society Organisations in Zimbabwe to enable them to carry out their mandate as the independent voice of Zimbabwe? A delegation of Zimbabwean Civil Society leaders have taken time to be out in Oslo to push forward their agenda, if not to make a strong statement that Zimbabwe Civil Society needs support from the “Friends of Zimbabwe” now more than ever. They have also come out to Budapest to further lobby Hungary as an EU member for continued support. Civil Society, being the voice of the voiceless, hopes for continued support from the “Friends of Zimbabwe” including Hungary so as to be able to continue to push for progressive democratic reforms, the upholding of the rule of law and the promotion and protection of human rights in Zimbabwe.  The delegation also hopes to learn and import ideas from Hungary on transitional justice and national healing, given the fact that Hungary itself has in the recent past managed a successful transition.
